Sexual Harassment By Collage Professor: 500 College Students Write To PM Modi & Haryana CM

Chandigarh (India): 500 college students have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chief Minister of Haryana, alleging sexual harassment against a professor.

Around 500 women college students approached state Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to complain of sexual harassment against a professor of Chowdhury Devi Lal University.

The girls wrote to Modi and Khattar demanding the dismissal of the professor and an inquiry led by a retired high court judge.

The students sent copies of the letter to Vice-Chancellor Dr Azmer Singh Malik, Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij and National Commission for Women Chairperson Rekha Sharma, senior state government officials and some media houses.

Students have accused the professor of "dirty and obscene acts".

The accused professor called the girls to his office, took them to a bathroom and "touched private parts and did obscene things (with us)."

If they protested, the girls were threatened with "very bad" consequences.

University Registrar Dr Rajesh Kumar Bansal confirmed the receipt of the anonymous letter.

"Action will be taken against the guilty without sparing. No innocent should be tarnished." said the registrar.

"The police is investigating. The university's own committee is investigating the allegation. It is a serious allegation. There are no names in the letter but we will investigate it," he told print media.
