Saudi Arabia could recognize Israel if a comprehensive agreement
Israel is recognized by Saudi Arabia
If the Palestinian issue is settled, Saudi Arabia can recognize Israel, according to Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
During a panel discussion on Tuesday at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Prince Faisal bin Farhan stated: "We understand that peace in the area must include Israel.
However, there is just one path. In other words, the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is necessary to guarantee Palestinian peace.
"Of course, we are working with the US administration on something like this," Prince Faisal continued. The topic will become much more pertinent given Gaza's current situation.
There were indications that Israeli-Saudi relations were improving prior to the commencement of the current Gaza conflict on October 7.
Later, the Gaza War put an end to those preparations. Two Riyadh-affiliated individuals told Reuters.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan stated in front of a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos, "We agree that regional peace includes peace for Israel, but that could only happen through peace for the Palestinians through a Palestinian state."
When asked if, as part of a larger political accord, Saudi Arabia will then recognize Israel, he replied, "Certainly."
A Palestinian state would guarantee regional peace, according to Prince Faisal, and this is "something we have been indeed working on with the U.S. administration, and it is more relevant in the context of Gaza."
